HARTNESS RETIRES AFTER 23 YEARS
After 23 years of service, Engineer Wayne Hartness retired from the Conway Fire Department. Hundreds attended a reception on Tuesday to honor Hartness, who was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2014.

Kids register for 18th annual triathlon  Last update:

Registration is open until Friday for the 18th annual First Security Conway Kids Triathlon.
The triathlon, which features swimming, biking and running, begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at Hendrix College.
The event is open to children ages 6-15.

County prohibits outdoor burning until further notice  Last update:

Faulkner County is under a burn ban, as of 10 a.m. Monday.
David Hogue, county spokesman, said that state law gives the county judge the authority to issue a burn ban for public health and safety.

Just after 10 p.m. July 29 and officers were called to an apartment complex. A cabbie had dropped a woman off there, and she was so "intoxicated" that she did not know which apartment was hers, the report stated.
